Natural Stone Warranty
Quartz Warranty
Quartz is often referred to as engineered stone because it is comprised of tiny quartz crystals and colored resins that are compressed, heated, and formed into slabs. Quartz slabs are generally considered to be stain and scratch resistant and require less maintenance than natural stone. The combination of science, resources, and marketing enable these producers to offer warranties and recourse in the event of manufacturing defects.
Please refer to the website of your selected quartz brand for further information on care and maintenance guidelines and warranties.
Mainland Stoneworks warranties the workmanship of the labor for one year from the date of installation.
Natural Stone Care and Maintenance
- Sealing natural stone is recommended to be done every 6 months to a year, depending on the type and color of the stone. Sealing your stone countertops, however, does not make the stone stainproof, but rather more stain resistant. Natural stone sealers can be purchased at your local box store.
- Cleaners - clean stone surfaces with a neutral cleaner, stone soap, or a mild liquid dishwashing detergent and warm water. These products are available at your local box store. An excessive concentration of cleaner or soap may leave a film and cause streaks. Follow manufacturer recommendations.
- Soap scum - to remove soap scum, use a non-acidic soap scum remover or a solution of ammonia and water
- Coasters - use coasters under all glasses, particularly those containing alcohol or citrus juices.
- Trivets - while many stones can withstand heat, the use of trivets or mats is recommended.
- Liquid spills - blot the spill with a paper towel immediately. Do not wipe the area, as it can spread the spill. Flush the area with water and mild soap and rinse several times. Dry the area thoroughly with a soft cloth and repeat as necessary.
- Oil stains - an oil-based stain will darken the stone and may need to be chemically dissolved so the source of the stain can be flushed or rinsed away.
- Metal stains - metal stains must be removed with a poultice. Deep-seated, rusty stains are extremely difficult to remove and the stone may be permanently stained.
